{ a healthy alternative }

9.15.2009

So football Sunday started this weekend. I can't say that i get so wound up i don't know what to do with myself.... but.... my husband does! So i partake in the good food and drink, and wear my gear to make him happy. Granted, i do have fun, but i just can't sit and watch that much football, for that much of the day. I just must be missing that brain cell.

So this past Sunday, i decided to try something new. Tortilla chips are somewhat healthy anyway, ( i usually buy the baked ones) but i decided to make my own. So not only were they super inexpensive, but healthy and pretty good!

All i did was take a package of small tortilla shells, (i think there were 12) use my pizza cutter to cut them like a pizza. The cutter i have is awesome, and nice and sharp so i was able to cut through all of them at once.

Then i spread the triangles onto a baking sheet, sprinkled with sea salt and baked on 400 degrees for about 20-25 minutes. It might vary, but i found a few at the bottom still had some soft middles. Christopher dove right in, he liked them warm, but i waited a bit before dipping into the guacamole because i didn't like dipping the warm chip.

So here are the finished chips!
...I bet they would be just as good with wheat tortilla shells also.

Enjoy!
