Dancing Deer Baking Company makes some of the most amazing treats ever! I wish i could have some delivered daily to me. (although then i might end up weighing a ton)! I have zero self control when it comes to sweets.
Some of their yummy favorites...
This morning i had to order for a sad reason.
A couple of months ago my sister called to ask me what i would be doing in May 2010. We had been trying to plan a trip together. I told her i didn't know, as we knew we would be active with our agency and things would depend upon whether we were placed, traveling, etc. She then proceeded to ask me if i would be with her in the delivery room? What? Are you pregnant i asked? And yes!! So exciting. We cried together and started talking about the possibility of having infants together. She and her husband were so nervous. It was totally unplanned and unexpected. She had been on high blood pressure medicine. Also, being 37, they automatically put you into the "old mom" category. She immediately started taking yoga t de-stress, got off her medication and had extra doctor appointments. Things looked awesome according to the doctors. She was clear to not have to be on any medication unless her blood pressure rose about 140.
The past few months she had her awful morning sickness that she had with her 2 girls, but sucked it up as she was too stinking excited. And... perhaps a boy this time? Ellie, her 6 year old was excited to help mom out and teach the new baby all the tricks she could.
I got a phone call last evening, she went for an ultra sound because of spotting and there was no heartbeat. My heart is breaking for her, as she not only tries to get through this with her family, but also try to explain to Ellie what happened. We both had strong faith in God, and believes he knows what is best for my sister, but it doesn't make the fact any easier. It is bittersweet for Christopher and i too, because we were looking forward to the possibility of raising children together.
I don't like sending flowers on an occasion such as this, so i turned to my favorite sweet shop, Dancing Deer and some goodies will be delivered to them on Monday. Even though this pregnancy wasn't planned, i hope that one day, they will be blessed again.

I'll say a prayer for your sister and your whole family. I'm sure she feels blessed to have you as her sister.
oh, rebecca, i am so sorry for your sister's loss. i know too well what it is like to lose a baby as i lost my first at 18w. your support and gift of cookies during this sad time will definitely help her heal.
i hope you are coping as you stand alongside your sister. i imagine her pregnancy and now loss have brought up many feelings for you.
on a side note, i LOVE those cookies...the molasses ones are my fave though i wouldn't turn my nose up at any of the others either.
{ hugs }
oh, I am so very sorry. I am praying for your sister and family. Praying for wisdom on the talk with Ellie.
thanks girls.
She had really wanted me with her in the delivery room too, because i might not get to experience it if our birth mom doesn't invite us, or if we have an "instant" situation. So it stings for me too like brklyn said.
Oh no, Rebecca! This is terrible all around. I'm so sorry for you sister and her family and for you and Chris. I'll keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
I'm so very sorry...
