{ getting prepped for tomorrow }

7.23.2009

So one thing left to do!
Fingerprints! Then we head to our first home study meeting.

So we have:
1 set of criminal affidavits
2 personal questionnaires
2 medical release forms
1 financial record
2 sets of 08/07 tax returns
3 reference letters
2 child abuse clearance forms
1 official copy of our marriage license
copies of our birth certificates
official agency application
a fairly large check

and a partridge in a pear tree!

I am actually quite surprised as to how fast it all went. We really put our minds to it, and got it done. I have to say, it was truly amazing to get our reference letters back. You don't necessarily think of how people perceive you in this particular situation- and the words have truly been tear jerking to say the least. We had to have one letter from a family member. Christopher and i are very close with my older sister. I wanted to share her letter because it is amazing and just brings as many smiles as tears (of joy) to my face. Here goes:

"My name is Jennifer and my husband’s name is Brett. We have two beautiful girls, Ellie and Ava ages 6 and 2 years. Rebecca is my sister and I want you to know how special she and her husband Chris are to our family.

Rebecca and Chris are a match made in heaven from the beginning, Their boundless energy and affection for each other and for any friend or family member rubs off on everyone around them. They always have time to make each person in their lives feel unique. They have wanted to pass that devotion onto a child of their own for a long time now, but have exhausted their options with fertility specialists.

Rebecca is my older daughter Ellie’s godmother and she and Chris are the kid’s favorite Aunt and Uncle. The girls love spending time and having "sleep overs" with them. They are patient, playful and loving. If for any reason I were to have to depend on anyone to raise my children, I would not hesitate to ask Rebecca and Chris. I believe whole heartedly that they would expertly guide my children thru life and have the same high values and expectations that my husband Brett and I have for them.

I would love to see Rebecca and Chris’s hopes and dreams finally come true with a child of their own. Any child will be truly lucky to have such warm, loving and devoted parents as they will one day be."
In Love Jennifer XXXX

Have a tremendous Thursday!

congrats on making it so far. I need to stop reading adoption letters when my hormones are so out of whack, I'm crying at my desk right now. Beautiful, just beautiful.

What a beautiful letter. I remember when we were gathering paperwork and getting our reference letters a friend of mine emailed me what she was putting in the letter it was the only 1 of the 3 reference lettters that we know the contents of but i cried my eyes out. The truth about how someone feels about you really comes out in these situations. Good luck with the rest of your journey hope it goes quickly for you.

I'm crossing everything! How long do you expect the wait to be? Not too long I hope!

thanks everyone!

HTB - once we are active, hopefully by the end of August, it really could be anytime. Whether we get an "instant" baby or are matched. Could take up to a couple of years though too. So we are mentally prepared for whatever comes our way.
